Why I, A Man aren’t a far far bigger band in Australia is staggering. With a breadth and diversity to rival even some international acts the band has a sense of measure about their sound that is exceedingly rare amongst Australian acts.

1557258_10152328560885832_2080189606_oHello, lover are turning into a mini revelation in Adelaide’s indie circles. A jaded dream pop Shoegaze trio with a bitter 90s grunge apathy. The polyester girl cover was certainly impressive. Larissa has truly captured her range as a singer too.

Stranger things have happened first show. Insane guitarists, catchy post rock riffs with some unabashed shredding, guitar harmonics and re-appropriated old school guitar flourishes. All within a post rock context. Very listenable and captivating live.

Why I, A Man aren’t a far far bigger band in Australia is staggering. With a breadth and diversity to rival even some international acts the band has a sense of measure about their sound that is exceedingly rare amongst Australian acts.

The rhythm section is tight and perfectly restrained. The drums softy textured the bass understated, almost muted and pulsating. The vocals flowing and smooth, almost Thom Yorke like and the riffs anthemic. The overall sound is so organic and warm, even with samples.

Sitting somewhere between Youth Group and Doves, I, A Man is a band for fans of sophisticated indie with fantastic musicianship.
