Over the past few years the Adelaide Fashion Festival has grown into a city-wide event with thousands of people across the city enjoying the range of local fashion designers, retailers and precincts on show. The Norwood Payneham & St Peters Council has been behind the running of the Festival and responsible for its growth since infancy.

Today in Parliament, the Governor, His Excellency Hieu Van Le delivered a speech to the State’s Parliament, outlining the Government’s agenda for South Australia. Exciting news was released about the future of the Festival, revealing that from 2015 it will be brought into the city by the State Government who will be running the Festival from here on in with a satellite event to remain on The Parade, Norwood.

In a state hailed for its diverse range of festivals, this latest addition to the State Government’s portfolio is a truly exciting one for the Adelaide Fashion Festival as the possibilities for the Adelaide Fashion Industry are limitless.

Below is what Premier Jay Weatherill had to say;

“We all know the great benefits tourism can bring to the vibrancy of our city and State. That is why we will invest in aggressive tourism campaign to market SA as a unique and attractive destination to attract more visitors and grow hospitality jobs. South Australia is great at hosting major events and we want more of them – we will increase our investment to attract more of these major events, starting with bringing the Adelaide Fashion Festival into the city.”
