Sit back, relax, and let Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) show you where you could be working in the New Year!

Celebrating United Nations International Volunteer Day, the ‘From where you’d rather be… working’ mini film festival is your chance to explore the wide variety of international volunteer experiences available to you through AVID.

Each year the Australian Government supports around 1000 skilled Australians on unique assignments – they’ve had volunteers help train Mongolian journalists about how to report on air pollution, save people’s livelihoods through reforestation in Indonesia, and introduce a successful cricket competition to the Solomon Islands.

What: From where you’d rather be…working’ Mini Film Festival

Date: Friday, 5 December 2014

Time: 10am – 2pm

Location: Rundle Mall, outside City Cross

You can also have a chat to some of our returned Australian volunteers who will be sharing their experiences, as well as giving away some fantastic freebies!

In 2014, International Volunteer Day recognises the hundreds of millions of people who volunteer to make change happen, including our own Australian Volunteers for International Development.

Australian Volunteers for International Development is a fully funded Australian Government initiative, offering skilled Australians the opportunity to share their skills and foster linkages with people and organisations in developing countries across Asia, the Pacific and Africa, to make a difference as part of Australia’s overseas aid program.
