Meet, Taste And Discover South Australia’s Best

Featuring 180 producers in the one location, Cellar Door Fest visitors will treated to some of the best wine and food SA has to offer.

With 180 producers in the one venue, the 2017 Cellar Door Fest aims to delight food and wine lovers! From Friday, February 24th until the 26th, the Adelaide Convention Centre will be host to South Australia’s best wineries, local brewers, distillers and food producers. This is an event guaranteed to tantalise the taste buds!

One of the many highlights of the programme will be the Long Table experiences, which for the first time will pair acclaimed local restaurants with wineries. Diners can explore regional flavours under the guidance of Tomich Wines and Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, The Henry Austin, Beach Road Wines, Topiary and Vinteloper, and Clare Valley star performer, Skillogalee. All Long Table experiences will feature award-winning cheeses by Kris Lloyd Artisan.

Other new offerings include the ‘Flavours of the Fest’. It’s free, live cooking demonstration stage that allows visitors to learn and interact with the food producers and taste their delicious recipes. Also new this year are the, ‘Meet the Maker Sessions’. It’s a free, up-close and personal experience and chance to taste their delectable creations. The makers will unlock their secrets, share their knowledge and offer insight into their products.

Returning to 2017 Cellar Door Fest is the much-anticipated Master Classes that are bigger and bolder than ever! Here’s what to expect:

  • When Age Only Matters – an hour-long vertical cheese and wine tasting experience, hosted by Valerie Henbest and Rhys Howlett.
  • The Plumm Wine Glass Experience – a lesson in matching the right glassware to your favourite drop, hosted by Rocco Esposito, former Director of Wine at Melbourne’s three-hatted Vue de Monde.
  • From One Country to the Next – a horizontal cheese and wine tasting with hosts Valerie and Rhys.
  • In Good Spirit – a showcase of Applewood Distillery’s range and how these can be crafted into the perfect summer drink with Man of Spirit Mark Reginato and owner of Applewood Distillery Brendan Carter.
  • Gems of the Riverland – unveil the boutique wineries changing our perception of this great region with Phil Reedman, Global Master of Wine and Riverland Wines.
  • Cheese with a Twist – a cooking with cheese experience hosted by Valerie and Rhys.
  • Gimme Some Sugar – a dessert and wine matching Master Class with Alex Crawford, Sugar Man Patisserie and Max Mason, The Henry Austin.

And if all that’s not enough, The Distillery will be fresh to this year’s festival! It will be unveiled with samplings of local award winning boutique spirits from the likes of Prohibition Liquor Co, Applewood Distillery and Barossa Distilling Company and more are to be announced.

Primary Industries and Regions South Australia are proud to be the Festival’s major sponsor and are keen to promote Adelaide and South Australia’s membership in the Great Wine Capitals Global Network on Cellar Door Fest’s perfect platform.

This year’s Fest Ambassadors include iconic cheese artisan Kris Lloyd, Max Mason from The Henry Austin, David Bowley from Vinteloper and food influencer, Dougal McFuzzlebutt. They’ll be encouraging Fest visitors to explore the regions in their own backyard, enjoy complimentary tastings, chat to the makers, and immerse themselves in an intimate behind-the-scenes culinary experience.
