Adelaide Fringe

Local Fashion Icon Designs Costume For Glam Fringe Act With A Difference

From designer fashion to music and delicious food, this is one Fringe show you need to see…

Adelaide Fringe is generally associated with a fabulous, grungy, carnival scene. Eating corn on a stick in the Garden of Unearthly Delights. Sitting on makeshift wooden benches in disused warehouses whilst watching stand up comedy. Even cramming your 100 closest friends into a tent on a 40 degree day to catch a glimpse of one of the thousand acts that are put on for our viewing pleasure during the month of the Festival. And we love it.

There is a spectacularly glamorous side to Fringe however, and the pizazz of Velvet with Marcia Hines, or the feathers of Briefs will bare witness to that.

Things are stepping up to a new level now, as the Piano Chick Does Brit Chix show is about to hit a stage near you. Local music legend Becky Blake (you’ll know her from the showband Chunky Custard, or her Cabaret Festival show Piano Chicks), has enlisted Adelaide fashion designer Liza Emanuele to design her costumes for the show.

It won’t be the first time Becky has been dressed by Liza, with many a glamorous gown making an appearance on stage, including at the off ASMF lunch, or gala event. This will be a first for Fringe however. And why the hell not?

Piano Chick Does Brit Chix will be performing at the stylish Published Arthouse, and will see you taking a trip back through British history, in a unique and fabulous way. Becky and band will tell the stories of Britain’s most loved females through song. Think Cilla, Dusty, Lulu, Petula, The Spice Girls, Ms Lennox, Kate Bush, Winehouse, Adele and more…

Best of all, you can make a night of it. From Thursday 3 March to Saturday 5 March you can watch the show whilst indulging in a platter or a light meal from the Published Arthouse’s menu.

On Thursday 3 March (only) the party kicks on after the show with nibbles, a fashion parade styled by fashion guru Markus Hammence, more entertainment, plus an auction with proceeds going to Dignity Zambia. Because “after the show, there’s the after party…”

Finally there is the dinner + show option (our hot pick!). Available from Thursday 3 March to Saturday 5 March from 6pm, you will be served a beautiful two-course dinner by Chef Daniel Brooks with some accompanying wine. Sounds like the perfect excuse to support a abundance of local talent, whilst having a cracking night out.
