Lady Burra Is One Delicious Babe!

You might go for the beer but Lady Burra will keep you around for her amazing food… Check out our review of her tasty new menu…

If you haven’t walked through Topham Mall recently, it is pretty safe to say that you have been missing out! With its revamp and revitalised look, the once wasted walkway between two bustling city streets is the new home of quirky stores and yummy eating spots. The highlight for us is the CBD’s first microbrewery, Lady Burra Brewhouse Bar and Kitchen…

Lady Burra

Part hipster and part homely, with wooden and copper giving an industrial feel but then the food is homestyle and authentic taking inspiration from all over Europe. Portuguese is their specialty and the wood oven is used for most dishes. And who doesn’t love a wood oven?!

When we were asked if we would like to try out their menu, well, who were we to decline!

With our stomachs at the ready, couldn’t wait to start the feasting. Especially when we saw what was first on the menu… citrus marinated salmon served with a burnt chilli aioli on a house-made multigrain bread and mozzarella stuffed crispy chicken wings with a roast garlic aioli to dip them into really got our tastebuds going… This deliciousness made all the better by the lovely Lady Burra American Pale Ale which balanced well with the dishes.

The beer didn’t end there (obviously) as each course was paired with a beer to suit the menu. Whilst it was super tempting to have a liquid dinner with all the beers on offer, after the amazing first course, we couldn’t wait to see what hit the table next.

The Fava Bean and Chorizo stew was a little surprise given to us by Mama Rosa from the kitchen. This was our favourite dish of the night- hearty with a perfect hint of spice.

When mains rolled around we were in for a treat with the delicious Chargrilled Cod‚ flaked apart, with Portuguese style ‘punched’ potatoes and hot garlic sauce, plus Roasted Pork leg served with seasonal roast vegetables accompanied by Rosa’s gravy. Food porn. But then came the beer porn, the Lady Burra Irish Red Ale and India Pale Ale. Spot on.

Not into drinking a beer straight up? Don’t stress, Lady Burra will mix you up one of her “brewtails”- their entire list of cocktails include a house-brewed beer in each one. When a brewtail came out with the dessert of Portuguese tarts (we will be going back for these) and Portuguese pudding with star anise‚ orange & caramel sauce for dessert, we had the love hearts in our eyes.

With six beers on tap and beer paddles available so you can try a few at once, people might come in for a beer but they stay for the food.
