Kids Film Festival poster competition

Adelaide Kids Film Festival

Adelaide Kids Film Festival 2013 poster by 10-year old William Joyner

The annual Adelaide Kids Film Festival is calling on budding young designers to showcase their creative talents and design a poster for the 2014 festival. The competition, currently in its third year, is free to enter and open to all students aged 18 years and under from now until Friday, 23 May 2014.

Submissions must incorporate the Adelaide Kids Film Festival logo and this year’s theme, “We Are Young, We are Free”, which encourages kids to celebrate their youth and creativity.

The winning design will be announced on 2 June 2014 and will be featured both interstate and internationally, with the winner receiving VIP festival tickets, a block mount of their poster, movie tickets and film-making vouchers.

Last year’s poster competition received hundreds of entries from across South Australia, but it was 10 year old William Joyner’s eye-catching design that won the judge’s vote.

“I was inspired to enter the competition by my favourite artist, my dad. When I grow up I want to be just like him because I love being creative and finding new ways to make things using computers, cameras and drawing. The festival was so much fun and I think everyone should get involved this year,” William says.

Festival director Chloe Gardner says the festival is a unique event that supports, harnesses and encourages the creative involvement of kids.

“It is a great opportunity for kids all across Australia and the world to share their creativity and love of design and film with family, friends and the community,” Chloe says.

The Adelaide Kids Film Festival will run from 11-18 November 2014 and showcase and nurture the talents of young filmmakers over four days of screenings, workshops and Q&A sessions with industry professionals. Entry in the film-making competition is free and will run from 21 July to 10 October 2014.
