Last night saw the 2014 Adelaide Fashion Festival (AFF) kick off with a bang; announcing the Face of the Festival to 200 guests at an exclusive, invitation-only event held at Tandanya.
Katarina Keeler, a 5’10 Indigenous Australian beauty from Ceduna, has been selected to represent this year’s Festival.
“As the new fresh-face on the Adelaide modelling scene, Katerina was a standout for us, and what better way for her to launch her career in the industry then using the Adelaide Fashion Festival as her big break,” says Adelaide Fashion Festival Coordinator Cristina Tridente.
Katarina never dreamt that a modelling career might become a possibility until she was scouted from the crowds at Westfield Marion shopping centre during the 2013 Finesse & IMG International Model Search by Finesse Models Australia Director, Brigette Mitchell.
Currently completing her final year at university, the ambitious 20-year old remains passionate about her studies, but is delighted at the prospect of her modelling career and the opportunities this role with the Adelaide Fashion Festival will present.
“Being chosen as the Face of the 2014 Adelaide Fashion Festival is very exciting, and it’s an honour to represent my Indigenous heritage in such a renowned and prestigious fashion event,” says Miss Keeler.
“On top of modelling I am also studying a Bachelor of Nursing which is keeping me very busy, but I am looking forward to what the future holds and hope that modelling will be a part of it.”
Presented by the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters and The Parade, Norwood, the Adelaide Fashion Festival is nationally recognised as South Australia’s premier fashion event; showcasing the State’s dynamic and innovative fashion industry.
The Festival will run over a ten-day program, from 17 – 26 October 2014, with tickets on sale now.
