It’s The Long Weekend! We Can Think Of A Few Things To Do…

From wine, to wine, to food, back to wine… and films and culture. South Australia is waiting for you to explore it this Long Weekend!

If you have been reduced to a reluctant hermit this week thanks to the dreary winter weather (we refuse to acknowledge this is spring), this long weekend is a perfect time to get your squad together and show the weather who’s boss! Of course, by this stage of the year the state expected to be bathed in sunshine and the events of this long weekend match accordingly, with a veritable smorgasbord of wine, food and entertainment.

Here are a few ideas for how to shine a positive light at the end of a dark week (pun intended):

OzAsia Festival & Good Fortune Markets
Despite all Adelaide’s angsty weather has thrown at the tents and decorations, the Good Fortune Markets still stand! If you have already visited or are yet to make it, this is the final weekend to catch the spectacle and the Festival as a whole. This oriental delight showcases Asian Theatre, dance, music, visual arts, talks and films. Their range is huge! You can watch the dance company from Israel Vertigo 20 on Friday, or catch the comedy Two Dogs on Saturday night along with various other performances worth your attention. You do not want to risk FOMO here. Check the remaining OzAsia’s Festival Program here.

Lavazza Italian Film Festival
Gracing the silver screens at the Palace Nova with the best of Italian cinema, this is an undeniably glamorous cultural experience. The festival only runs for a limited time ending on the 12th of October, so this long weekend is the perfect time to check it out. We’d recommend winding down with a movie on Monday night to cap the long weekend off.

Ceduna Oysterfest
If you are interested in some Oystertainment, then Ceduna is the road trip you have to make this long weekend. Foodies unite and come experience the hospitality found along the Far West Coast, and enjoy the entertainment on offer across the three days. There are carnival amusements, eating competitions and of course all the oysters. That many people in the same place amongst a know aphrodisiac hey… sounds ominous.

Semaphore Music Festival
Head down to the beach for some amazing music ending on the Monday. The festival is showcasing the creme-de-la-creme of the Adelaide’s lush music scene, something we are renowned for, including headline performances from Archie Roach, Dave Graney and Grenadiers. There will also be craft beer, food trucks, wine, new artist market and carnival rides for the kids, for music lovers and people passionate about Adelaide talent please join the festivities.

2KW & Glam Adelaide Present: Frocks Over Footy
If you find sitting with the footy obsessed, drinking beers and shouting incoherently at the screen is not your idea of a pleasant Saturday, then pop on your stilettos instead and head to 2KW. We choose red lipstick, champagne and a delicious menu over sausages.

Saskia Beer’s Adelaide Farmer’s Market Tour + Long Lunch
The Barossa needs no introduction; it is the pinnacle of luxury from its impeccable views and famous wine… anyway, you know its amazing. This weekend there is a chance for you to explore it further on a market tour hosted by Saskia Beer, which will include a cooking presentation at the farmers market and if you wish you can join her for an artisan food production and demonstration, and finish the day with a long lunch.

Clare With Fresh Eyre

The month long event begins this long weekend and it appears us Adelaidians are spoiled with fresh food worth indulging in, it’s worth the trip especially since it’s some of the best seafood our state can offer. Click this link for the full program and join in!

Masterchef all star Poh Ling Yeow and Coriole Chef Tom Reid are serving up fresh food at Coriole Vineyards. And certainly not last of all, Paxton Wines will provide food tucks from coffee to crepes, there is a lot up for ofter. The vineyard odyssey is a culinary adventure worth the food baby. Tickets available online.

Hains & Co Plantation Rum Masterclass
