Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, and Khloe Kardashian Odom have basically conquered pop culture at this point, and they’re fast taking over the fashion world too. The Kardashian Kollection, designed by the three sisters, is a wide-ranging fashion line for women of many different ages, shapes and sizes. After offering a limited selection of handbags, denim, accessories and hosiery ranges in Australia to a tremendous reception, the Kardashian sisters are looking to go one better and properly take over our shores. The full ready to wear range of the Kardashian Kollection, including elevated and modern dresses, jackets, blouses, shorts and skirts will debut at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney in the brand’s first-ever runway show. Kim, Kourtney and Khloe took some time out of their hectic schedules to talk to Glam Adelaide about the launch, their inspiration behind the Kollection and their future fashion plans.
Why have you chosen the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney?
Kourtney: It was perfect timing for the launch of our new ready to wear kollection in Australia. We’re so excited for our first-ever Kardashian Kollection runway show and look forward to debuting the new line alongside local brands we admire. The festival is really for the fans and that’s what is important to us.
How are the three of you feeling ahead of the launch? Nervous, or excited?
Kim: We’re so excited. I wish I could be there to watch as our new RTW line debuts on the runway, but we’re all looking forward to seeing how Australia will react to the new collection.
What have you got in store for the runway show, anything special lined up?
Khloe: You will have to wait and see! We don’t want to spoil the surprise for our fans.
Tell me about the Kardashian Kollection, what kind of styles have you gone for and what kind of items are in it?
Kourtney: We don’t want to spoil the surprise of the show, but you can expect to see a variety of silhouettes, from signature dresses to great separates, in bold fabrics and colors.
Have you had much experience with the Kollection in Australia before? What’s the response been like?
Khloe: We launched in the States with a women’s RTW collection, shoes, jewelery, belts, wallets and lingerie in September 2011. Since then we have more than doubled the categories of product, expanding into optical, luggage, swimwear and more–it’s been amazing. From the beginning we’ve had an amazing response from Aussie fans and it was a natural progression for us to launch a full apparel line in Australia. We are so excited to debut the new kollection at MBFFS.
What were your inspirations when designing the Kollection?
Kim: We created this kollection specifically with our Aussie fans in mind. Since the seasons in Australia are opposite from the States, we were able to take the feedback we received from Australia on our Spring/Summer US and UK collections into consideration. I don’t want to give too much away before the line debuts at MBFFS, but you’ll see a mix of classic and bold pieces with fun new pops of color and updated prints.
Who do you see buying the Kollection?
Khloe: Australian women of all shapes and sizes aged 25 – 45.
What stores will be stocking the collection in Australia?
Kim: The Ready-to-Wear collection will be stocked in selected boutiques across Australia.
Will any of you be in Australia for the launch and make an appearance on the runway?
Kourtney: Unfortunately we cannot be there, but we do have some special surprises in store for our fans attending the show.
What’s it like working on a fashion collection together? Is it challenging or do you ever disagree with each other?
Khloe: We’re sisters so there are definitely times when we don’t agree, but half the fun is working together to come up with a kollection that we all love. We have a rule that if 2 of the 3 of us love something, the person who doesn’t agree is overruled.
What’s next for the Kardashian Kollection; are you working on anything new for it?
Kim: We are already working on the next collection across all our lines and have some great things in store for our Australian customers. Expect to see our new luggage and shoes in Australia soon.
