On 14 October in Adelaide, world-renowned science presenter, Professor Brian Cox kicks off a national tour: Brian Cox – Making sense of the Cosmos. And while he is in Adelaide, Professor Cox has jumped at the chance to be involved in a special broadcasting event at RiAus that will be broadcast, exclusively, to schools across Australia.
RiAus is delighted to be working with Professor Cox and his tour promoter, Lateral Events, to create this special, student-only live web broadcast. Teachers who pre-register their class will be sent a special log-in code to access the broadcast. Registration is now open.
‘It’s a pretty rare thing for students to be able to pick the brain of Brian Cox,’ said RiAus Director Dr Paul Willis. ‘In this Q&A session, they can submit their burning questions, and he’ll answer them!’
Brian Cox OBE is a British particle physicist, and a Royal Society University Research Fellow, who, as the saying goes: is not just a pretty face. As a former rock musician and front man for No. 1 hit-making band, D:Ream in the 1990s, Brian chose to pursue his dream career in science, which, it could be argued, has brought even more fame.
Professor Cox now works at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, Switzerland on the ATLAS experiment and is a Professor at the University of Manchester. He enjoys the chance to encourage high school students to study science so they can have fulfilling and exciting careers. As the presenter of a number of science programs for the BBC, Brian has helped to boost the popularity of subjects such as astronomy and physics.
