Calling all snow bunnies – dust off those blades of glory and skate down to Elder Park as Adelaide’s Riverbank is transformed into an arctic adventure-land featuring an outdoor ice rink and winter festivities.

Calling all snow bunnies dust off those blades of glory and skate down to Elder Park as Adelaide’s Riverbank is transformed into an arctic adventure-land featuring an outdoor ice rink and winter festivities.

For two weeks beginning Monday 27 July, the Riverbank will be home to ‘Winterlicious’ where skating fans can take to the ice and warm up in the cosy winter village offering hot food and drinks.

Presented by Renewal SA on behalf of The Riverbank Authority, the undercover ice rink will be surrounded by log fire pits and tipi tents, inspired by the traditional dwellings of nomadic reindeer herders from Lapland, to entertain skaters and spectators in the toasty warm.

Renewal SA General Manager for People and Place Management Georgina Vasilevski says Winterlicious provides a fun demonstration to highlight how the Riverbank Precinct can be enjoyed all year round.

“This event is about showcasing the Riverbank Precinct as a great place for city workers, students and families alike to enjoy a diverse mix of affordable activities regardless of the time of year,” Ms Vasilevski said.

“These types of activities are all about creating economic development opportunities for businesses and supporting local jobs.”

“Our warm winter village will have beautiful festoon lights, hot chocolate, and feature a European themed winter menu including fire roasted chestnuts, hot soups, mulled wine and dessert churros with chocolate sauce.”

“Winterlicious will offer a range of games and activities for people of all ages, including families. It will be the perfect spot for an after work warm up or a weekend adventure with friends. Who knows, we might even uncover the next Steven Bradbury.”

Skating sessions will be priced at $5 per person for everyone. Each ice skating session is on the hour and lasts 45 minutes.
