On Friday night, HUB Adelaide celebrated their 1st Birthday by throwing a party in their spacious Peel St offices.
Staff, entrepreneurs, friends and guests were treated to a lavish array of delicious foods, 3 Ravens beers, Mt Langi wines, a live DJ and entertainment. And when I say entertainment, I’m talking about the two opening speakers on the night: HUB Australia’s founder Brad Krauskopf and Hub Adelaide’s Business Calayst Shannon Pouton. Their energetic and honest speeches had every member of the crowd up and laughing.
The event was also host to a Spark Showcase, which saw four ‘Young Entrepreneurial Sparks’ take the stage to talk about their time at HUB Adelaide, their start-ups and their career goals.
Fostered by their HUB Adelaide mentors, each spark is embarking on a unique business venture: The youngest entrepreneur to joint the Spark program, Jessica Perry, who is just 18, is carving out a career for herself in Career Planning. James Stewart is helping people everywhere kick their smoking addiction with his app Kick.it. Amanda Smith, who spoke via a video as she was on business in Indonesia, is setting up a “transformational” travel magazine with an online presence. And David Dickson’s event management company, Possession Entertainment, is working to release an all new product called The Living View – a two person chill out area raised high in the air by a scissor lift, perfect for music festivals and outdoor events.
The night wrapped up with an enthusiastic round of ‘Happy Birthday,’ lead by the vivacious Miss Carla Lippis, cake and conversation.
The HUB is home to some of the most passionate, driven and friendliest people in Adelaide. In a warm and supportive work environment such as this, the opportunities for the young entrepreneurs who work here seem immeasurable.
I think it’s safe to say that future Australia is in good hands.
