Hot Five: The Tastiest Mediterranean Restaurants In Adelaide

There is just something about Mediterranean food. We love the variety, the different flavours, the way that it is perfect with a crisp, cold glass of wine (that always helps)… It is the kind of food that you can keep on eating and eating and eating (no judging, please). When it is as hot as it has been in Adelaide lately, we can think of nothing better than dining at the following restaurants.

So as we dream of that glass of wine and some delish seafood, here are our HOT FIVE:

Estia Restaurant
255 Seaview Road, Henley Beach Square

Did somebody say Greek feast? These guys know how to put together an absolute mountain of delicious food. If there is one suggestion that we can make before heading here, it is go hungry! And maybe don the stretchiest pants that you own. This Henley Beach fave is the perfect spot to dine on a hot Summer’s day while you enjoy some of the best Greek food in Adelaide with the view to boot. Perfection…

George’s On Waymouth
20 Waymouth Street, Adelaide

Now this place is simply one of the best restaurants in Adelaide. An absolute institution and total guns at what they do… And what they do is delicious Mediterranean style food. We aren’t alone with that line of thinking because these guys have won multiple awards both regionally and nationally. Twenty fifteen looked a little something like Best European at the Restaurant & Catering SA Awards For Excellence 2015 as well as at the Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Awards For Excellence 2015 and they also nabbed Best Lunch in the CBD at The Advertiser Food Awards 2015. But we just go back for the amazing food… Our fave – the scallops!

Panacea Restaurant
72 Halifax Street, Adelaide

Whether you have heard about this place for its epic food, or for its amazing mural on one wall, it just doesn’t matter because Panacea is a must visit. It is Mediterranean food heaven with its amazing range of tapas, share plates, as well as entrees and mains – this place has everything covered. And if you ask us, we think that the tapas style of eating is a sure fire winner. It means you get to try a little bit of everything. And you will want to, just look at that food!

Ruby Red Flamingo
142 Tynte Street, North Adelaide

Pop this in the ‘most delicious restaurants ever’ list and never let it leave… We.Love.This.Place! You can check out our full review here, but basically the things that you need to know about Ruby Red are that this restaurant is all about sharing, having fun and serving up food that makes you want to recreate that scene from When Harry Met Sally. It is that good. You can’t book so we always suggest getting in early to avoid the wait. Although the wait is never so bad because you can always head upstairs to the bar and enjoy a drink (or three) until a table is free… A special mention has to go to the Maccheroni Eggplant with smoked scamorza, dry ricotta, tomato – if you can only get one dish, make it this one. You will not regret it.

The Greek on Halifax
75-79 Halifax Street, Adelaide

*Insert Haloumi joke here* The Greek know Greek food. As their name would suggest. We always see new restaurants popping up in Adelaide but this place has been around for a while now and we think that says a lot about it… It always serves up amazing food and we just love dining alfresco with a glass of vino. It is like our own little slice of the Mediterranean right here in Adelaide’s CBD. But seriously would you look at that Haloumi…

Ok so we know that is five, but we have to give an honourable mention to a place that may technically fall into the bar category but is a must visit (in our opinion)…

La Rambla Tapas Bar
28 Peel Street, Adelaide

Because we just cannot get enough of tapas, and this place does it SO well. Plus it is on one of the coolest streets in Adelaide, so it had to get a mention. La Rambla Tapas Bar serve up some absolutely cracking Spanish style treats. Definitely one to hit when you are looking for a substantial meal that won’t leave you feeling heavy. Our picks would have to be the chicken croquettes and the squid. Plus hook yourself up with a delicious jug of their sangria. Our fave is the passionfruit!

If this hasn’t got your mouths watering, well then we just don’t know what will!
