The Oakbank Racing Club has added another race to its calendar this weekend ahead of the world-famous Oakbank Easter Racing Carnival in April.

The Hills Gourmet Gallop will be held this Sunday, March 15. It is the first Sunday race meet to be held at the picturesque course in recent years.

Cost: Adults $15, concession $10.
Family pass (two adults and children aged under 18) $30.
Children 13- 17 $5.
Children under 13 receive free entry.

The event is another way the Club is supporting the Adelaide Hills community and adding a fresh element to its annual offering, while retaining the picnic tradition that has made Oakbank such a sought-after Easter destination.

Six Adelaide Hills wineries– Sidewood, Somerled, Golding Wines, Mt Lofty Ranges, Pink and Jones Wines and Hahndorf Hill Wines– will feature at the Hills Gourmet Gallop with their top drops accompanied by mouth-watering regional specialties. A selection of children’s activities will also be on hand to keep youngsters entertained for hours on end.

Oakbank Racing Club Chairman John Glatz said the Hills Gourmet Gallop is an opportunity for families unable to make the Easter Racing Carnival to enjoy the region in a similar way.

“It’s the perfect way to extend what we do at Oakbank to reach more people and offer further opportunities for the Hills’ community,” Mr Glatz said.

The Oakbank Easter Racing Carnival is held on Saturday, April 4 and Monday, April 6.

Adelaide Hills businesses will feature prominently in The Paddock, a food and wine precinct that attracted 3000 punters in its first appearance in 2014.

Mr Booth-Remmers from Stirling’s Red Cacao said he was proud to support the popular annual event where he will serve salted caramel and chocolate tarts and chocolate truffles.

A wagyu burger, pulled lamb burger and vegetarian burger will be on the menu from Stirling’s The Locavore restaurant and wines will be supplied by Golding Wines, Sidewood Wines and Somerled Wines.

Another of last year’s Oakbank additions is back– the KidsZone includes a petting zoo, the opportunity to take pony rides, a side show alley and a selection of other rides and amusements.
