A couple of weeks ago we reported on former Glenunga International High School student, Henry Thong and his illustrious career that’s taking off in the film industry despite still only being a teenager! Read our article here.

We’re excited to announce that following on from that, Henry has scored not one, but TWO more awards at Bond University’s BUFTA Awards on the Gold Coast. The BUFTA Awards have been going for 19 years and are arguably the most prestigious among Australian youth film competitions.

Henry’s documentary Urban Exploration won the Best Documentary category for his insight into Adelaide’s abandoned buildings, rooftops & tunnels. The Award is accompanied by a semi-scholarship to study Film & TV at Bond University.

His short film, LEAP, was the recipient of the popular People’s Choice Award, scoring him a $1,250 prize for camera equipment. This three-and-a-half minute comic-book style short film tells the story of a bullied teenage boy who suddenly acquires extraordinary powers and how he handles the bullies who torment him daily.

Congratulations, Henry! We look forward to watching your career continue to soar.
