Pick your own figs & kick back at the Figbar at Glen Ewin Estate

Glen Ewin Estate are throwing open their gates from February 12 for visitors to pick their own figs, enjoy a drink at the Figbar and graze a picnic hamper.

The coveted fig picking season is back, so we can enjoy heading up into the hills and collecting our fruit direct from the source.

Willabrand Australia at Glen Ewin Estate are throwing open their gates from the second weekend of February, (12-13) depending how figs ripen, for visitors to pick their own figs. Visitors will be able to pick every day from 9 am to 3 pm until early April (or until stock lasts!)

Willabrand Australia is an award-winning family owned business specialising in fig products, with over 12,000 tree orchards and five different fig varieties at Glen Ewin Estate.

Managed using certified organic products that maximise their fabulous flavour, this is the perfect place to enjoy a different and unique experience with picking your own.

Glen Ewin Estate also boasts a Figbar for a drink post picking, and if you’re after some food, there’s the option to pre-order a picnic hamper, prepared by the Glen Ewin Chef.

The Figbar is open for food Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and there is plenty of shade under the London Plane trees.

To join in the fig picking, vsitors must pay a $5 entry fee per person while children under 12 are free but must be supervised. Brown Turkey Figs are $10/kg, and other Fig Varieties are $15/kg.

Its recommended that all visitors to wear enclosed walking shoes, sunscreen, bring water to stay hydrated, and wear long sleeves while picking as the sap and leaves may irritate sensitive skin.

Due to recent biosecurity threats such as fruit flies and phylloxera, outside food and beverages are not permitted.

Where: Glen Ewin Estate, 43 Lower Hermitage Road, Houghton.
