Grab Your Nana! The Host Of BBC’s Bargain Hunt Is Coming To Adelaide!

It will be just like having Antiques Roadshow in town as the BBC’s Tim Wonnacott & local auctioneer Theadore Bruce appraise all of the old stuff your nana has been hoarding.

There was this golden time during the late 90s and early 00s when Antiques Roadshow hit our screens and everyone suddenly realised old crap was worth money. Cue issues for the poor operators of antique and option houses around Australia as people dug through their hoards of garbage to present something that could look old. Of course, actual antiques in Australia are rare when you consider that everything that arrived here as the ‘Colony’ was established had to be shipped over. But none the less, that doesn’t mean that certain things don’t have history.

Which is why former Sotherby’s director and host of BBC’s Bargain Hunt, Tim Wonnacott, (well, actually he’s now left the show but you can still watch his new episodes being aired) and local antique dealer Theodore Bruce will be at Carrick Hill on Wednesday, August 3 from 10am. They are looking for treasures to appraise. And afternoon tea. From what we’re told, both will be plentiful.

Ever wondered what that painting, chair, teapot or snuff box you inherited from Great Aunt Doris is worth? Her snuff box has to be worth at least a tenner!

This is all happening as part of Carrick Hill’s thirtieth anniversary celebrations with the aptly dubbed ‘Discovery Day’ to be conducted by the Theodore Bruce Valuation team with Tim Wonnacott providing the commentary. Together they will identify and value the items presented. Patrons may bring up to three items each. There is a registration charge of $10.00 per item or $25.00 for three items. Registrations may be paid at Carrick Hill on the day. The top five items presented on the day will be displayed from 4.00pm.

On Thursday 4 August from 2:30pm to 4.00pm Tim Wonnacott will also feature in a further Carrick Hill event entitled Tea & Talk with Tim, offering patrons the opportunity to meet the expert in antiques and the pursuit of the object. Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased on the Carrick Hill website.

Carrick Hill is located at 46 Carrick Hill Drive, Springfield and is open Wednesday to Sundays and Public Holidays 10.00 am to 4:30 pm.
