TAFE SA Clovelly ParkSouth Australians will have the chance to go behind the scenes at the new $120 million Tonsley TAFE SA on Sunday (February 23) to learn more about the campus’s state of the art facilities and learning technologies.

Visitors to the Open Day will receive a personalised tour of the campus which for the first time brings together all of the building trades under one roof, where they will learn and work together as they are required to do in the building industry.

TAFE SA Building and Construction Director Peter Nolan said the tours will include a viewing of the multi-purpose demonstration four-storey construction site, building and construction workshops and digitally enabled classrooms.

“Visitors will be able to learn about the Building and Construction courses on offer at Tonsley with training being delivered across twenty six areas including electrical, refrigeration and air-conditioning, plumbing, carpentry and joinery, furnishing, interior design and drafting, painting and decorating, bricklaying, plastering and tiling,” he said.

“Tonsley TAFE SA marks a shift in the style of learning to a ‘student centric’ model where students access information and resources from a variety of sources including face to face, online and peer to peer.

“Digital technologies at Tonsley will include the virtual classroom, Tonsley TAFE app and TAFETube Channel.”

Students arrived on campus for the first time on January 28th with an average of 800 now attending every day. Tonsley TAFE has the capacity to train more than 6,500 students a year.

In addition to viewing Tonsley TAFE, visitors to the Open Day will be able to take a bus tour of the Tonsley precinct courtesy of Renewal SA.

Entertainment on the day will be provided by Nova 919 with the Casanovas handing out giveaways along with Red Bull. The laneway at Tonsley TAFE will be lined with food trucks and there will be balloons and a face painter for the kids. For more information visit www.tafesa.edu.au/tonsley
