Glam Gets The First Scoop On SA’s Most Anticipated New Restaurant Opening Next Week

What’s that? You want the scoop on Electra House’s new restaurant, Level One? Well we’ve got it…

The much anticipated spectacular new restaurant from our lovers at Electra House is opening to the public next Tuesday. Yes, you should be excited. We media folk are lucky enough to be able to have a sneaky peek and a delightful taste tomorrow night. But we were too damned excited to wait even that long.

And so, being the Sherlock Holmes-esque characters that we are, we cornered the tight lipped owners to see just what we could find out before those big beautiful doors officially swing open…

Although the transformation from Olea to Level One has been immense, one thing we’re thrilled about is that the original light, bright airiness of the restaurant has not been diminished. Meaning that glorious daytime sunshine still lights up each dish, and the faces of your compadres while you dine. (This may or may not be a good thing, so choose your dinner guests wisely).

The décor is extremely modern, but we’ve been sworn to secrecy on the finer details until tomorrow. Sorry cool kids. But hey, who doesn’t love a surprise? We will tell you this though, you can expect to see lashings of navy and pink. Amazing.

The menu is ‘Asian Fusion.’ When quizzed on what the Asian would be fused with we were simply told “everything.” From modern Australian, to French and beyond. This spread is going to be seriously unique. We also managed to have a squiz at the menu. Knowing dishes like ‘Essence of Pork- textured egg yolk, asparagus and truffle’ are being served up, our tastebuds are tingling!

And one of our favourite parts? We’re told 95% percent of the produce is from right here in SA. We love the big guns who support the state! That other 5% has been flown in direct from Japan, to ensure that Asian fusion is as authentic as it could possibly be.

In addition to the SA food produce the wine list is set to be close to SA perfection. With owner Leigh Morgan also being a Co-owner of wine giants Vino Mofo, it’s clear the man knows a good drop and this wine list is set to bring it to us!

His focus was on showcasing the young guns of the South Australian wine scene. With a list like this it’s clear to locals and tourists alike that there’s more to us than just Grange (although we wouldn’t say no to that either!)

Leigh says “We’re so excited about bringing something super fresh to Adelaide. We really think it’s something the scene hasn’t experienced before.” Décor and food styling inspiration has been taken from the restaurant geniuses in New York and even Melbourne. That, mixed with SA produce… It’s going to be a pretty incredible combination.

Most importantly they’ve delivered food that is unpretentious and approachable whilst still being high end. Keeping it simple and about what’s important, the food, duh.

With dinner being served Tuesday to Saturday and lunch Tuesday to Friday you’ve got plenty of opportunity to whet your appetite. But the best part? The menu won’t change from lunch to dinner, so you won’t get stuck without your favourite dish if you happen to swing by at lunch time and indulge.

Most important of all, the pricing is affordable. Can I get a hallelujah? There’s a spread of smaller and larger dishes that won’t break the bank, and the ‘Feed Me Menu’, always a fave in Glam’s eyes is a marvellous $45 for lunch and $75 for dinner. Yessiree.

Well, we hope our sneaky insight has gotten you as excited as we are. Levels of desire will undoubtedly increase when we post our full review on Friday. Gah, we can’t wait. If you can’t either, the restaurant is already taking bookings! Why not postpone Valentine’s Day this year until Tuesday and book at Level One? Because this joint will have your date swooning.
