Remember Windmill Theatre’s epic theatrical production Girl Asleep? How could you not, it was one of the Adelaide Festival’s most loved performances this year.
The unforgettable trilogy is now being brought to film for the 2015 Adelaide Film Festival by Writer/Director team Matthew Whittet and Rosemary Myers.
Boasting powerful performances, a gripping narrative and a talented young cast, the film promises to be an eerie cinematic expedition into the bewildering brutality of adolescence.
This is incredible stuff! Girl Asleep will mark Windmill Theatre’s very first independent feature film, and the production will grant employment to over 80 Australian actors, artists and creatives.
But just how will such a small company fund such a large project? It’s tough.
That’s why Windmill Theatre are throwing a 1970s themed party (complete with asparagus rolls and vol au vents) to raise money to employ the talented professionals involved in the upcoming production.
Not only will the Stylin’ Seventies Soiree provide retro canapes, slingin’ cocktails, luxe entertainment by resident spin-master DJ Tr!p and the sassy rollergirls, it’ll also invite guests to take part in live and silent auctions. The auctions will feature a host of exclusive items and experiences, including jewellery by Shiels, Adelaide Festival and WomAdelaide passes, exclusive Grug prizes and valuable artworks.
