Five.Point.One are known for high quality modern, thought-provoking but entertaining theatre. This latest production, Notoriously Yours by Van Badham keeps their reputation well intact – it is flawless.

Van Badham’s play examines security, both national and, in particular, personal: with such social media as Facebook being almost second nature to most of us, we make ourselves extremely vulnerable to scrutiny and, worse, abuse. We put our likes, dislikes, political thoughts, and even our personal desires online, placing ourselves on the line.

Mobile phones play a huge role in this production: they ring, are played with constantly by the cast, used as information givers on a big screen, used by cast members to video-stream action, and used ingeniously as props (car headlights). Van Badham’s dialogue even mirrors the clear, concise way people text message.

Ironically, a production that relies on and is about modern technology delivers itself as a film noir espionage thriller beautifully.

The cast of four, Matt Crook, Claire Glenn, Brad Williams and Craig Behenna are wonderful. Confidence and professionalism shine from each and every one of them.

Even though the play’s message is, literally, spelled out at the end, this is a perfect Fringe production and highly recommended.
