Fringe Review: Monroe & Associates

Monroe & Associates is an awesome, role playing, interactive piece of theatre

The Last Great Hunt is a Perth based theatre company formed by seven experienced performers in  December 2013. To quote their own PR: ‘We strive to give our audience an engaging, challenging and moving night out’ and  Monroe & Associates is an awesome, role playing, interactive piece of theatre which does all that and more http://www.thelastgreathunt.com/about/.

I can’t go into much detail about the experience as that would spoil it for later participants. Suffice it to say, after a brief introduction from the charming Tim Watts, you’ll find yourself wearing a black homburg in the office of Monroe & Associates, private investigators. It’s not spoiling anything to say that you have recently left Sunset City Hospital, with no memory of how you got there or who you are – except the name Frankie Monroe, private detective. You choose how you want the story to progress by making phone calls, and trying to work out the puzzles by uncovering secrets.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing the role of Frankie Monroe and as my confidence grew I happily used my imagination to build her personality, making her someone I could really identify with. As both the audience and the performer, this empathy made the experience all the more ‘real’ and believable and I didn’t even have to learn any lines!

I highly recommend Monroe & Associates and there are very few performances left so book your tickets soon.
