Fringe Review: Labels

This one-man performance by Joe Sellman-Leava is, in a way, hard to label. It is entertaining, humorous, though-provoking and truthful.

We as a species label everything – I’ve just done it labelling humans as a ‘species’ (not to mention ‘humans’). Labels define us. But some labels need not, or indeed, should not be.

This one-man performance by Joe Sellman-Leava is, in a way, hard to label. It is entertaining, humorous, though-provoking and truthful.

Sellman-Leava, armed with only an intriguing box of tricks, enters onto a bare but leaves it littered with labels that he has cast off; names he hates and things he isn’t. He is extremely likable, but can vent anger and frustration superbly.

The only down-side to this fascinating and insightful look into ourselves, is that there are a lot of British political references that tend to be unfamiliar to we Aussies.

But apart from that, let’s label the show “Well Worth Seeing”.
