With his Adelaide shows completely sold out, those lucky enough with a ticket have more than one reason to laugh. In his show Please Untick This Box, Danny Bhoy had the audience drunk with laughter through one of the biggest shows of the entire Fringe Festival.

One of the hottest and most prolific names in the business, Bhoy is a natural at his craft at the peak of his game. The Scottish-Indian comedian is instantly recognised by his unpredictable and extremely relatable wit, not least rendering the crowd at ease with his infectious, warm charm. Local act Tom Ballard warms up for Bhoy, invigorating the audience with his self-depreciating advice on relationships, body issues and politics, serving as a strong taster for the sharp comedy to follow.

In the hilarious Please Untick This Box, Bhoy weaves together the stories of the Scottish referendum, public nudity, America’s Founding Mothers, a salon questionnaire and one of the biggest names in Blues music. The eclectic and highly original performance saw Bhoy prancing about the stage and heckling the audience as he captured the soul of Australian and Scottish life so well, the crowd was left wheezing with tears from beginning to end.

It’s Bhoy’s effortless ability to pursue entirely mundane daily occurrences to a hilariously absurd end, particularly when eating a sandwich soon becomes a profane David Attenborough commentary, “birds are dicks!” Largely through observation and personal experiences, Bhoy’s refined and emphatic show gives refreshing life to the small details that make us human.
