There are enough shenanigans and circus acts packed into this short show to keep the youngest of kids happy, but it’s a feat of endurance for the rest of the audience, including older kids and parents.
The show begins at the end with the circus diva performing her final act on the trapeze before heading off for a nap. Instead of clearing the stage for the next show, the two title characters enjoying the freedom to explore their own circus tricks and games.
Despite the slim narrative, the show feels disjointed and sluggish, with no build up to the sudden ending. The joke telling is spoken so softly that it can barely be heard from the third row, and none of the performers exude the excitement and wonder needed to lift the energy and engage the audience. Thank goodness their circus skills are up to par, at least.
The majority of the action takes place to a soundtrack of songs about bananas, which is a nice touch to an otherwise poorly realised young children’s show.
