Fringe Review: Baileys and Sugar present: What Era is This?

Presented by Baileys and Sugar
Reviewed 10 March 2016

A bright fun show with some killer harmonies and a touch of comedy thrown in! At the start there are two great singers, Merrilyn Greer and Tahlia Ries, the usual for the Baileys and then they are joined by a third, Leah Gautier, and the Andrews Sisters Harmonies begin. But wait there’s more, a fourth girl joins them, Catherine Hearne, and the joke about who is supposed to be there begins! This leads to Bugle Boy Tag, very clever, amusing and well done.

For further variety Buddy Dawson (playing the scotch drinking husband of one of the girls) joins them for some Bing/Andrews Sisters fun. The group bring some music a little more modern, for example a great version of Tainted Love and a different ending with Shout.

These great singers are backed by three talented musicians, Emma Knights on piano, Chris Weber on trumpet and Simon Gould on drums, a tight little ensemble. Altogether it is a fun way to spend an hour, very entertaining.
