4 Tasting Australia Events That Might Not Be On Your Radar But Should Be

Seriously, our mouths are watering just writing about what is in store, so check them out…

South Australia is known for its amazing produce. From the obvious of our fave (hello wine), to an abundance of fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood and so much more. We are pretty lucky but we know it. And we also like to celebrate it. Enter Tasting Australia.

Since 1997 this festival celebrating all things food has really become one of the most anticipated culinary events on the calendar. With a jam packed program, there is something for everyone, quite literally. But we want to put the spotlight on four events on this year’s program that might not be on your radar but should be:

Dinner in the Company of Mark Kurlansky

Set in the beautiful Riverside Restaurant at the InterContinental, New York Times best-selling author, Mark Kurlansky will join guests as they enjoy an intimate dinner. With 29 books published including fiction, non-fiction and children’s books, Mark will make for one interesting dinner guest!

While you dine on a delicious five course meal prepared by the hotel’s Executive Chef, Tony Hart, your food will be matched to the essence of Mark’s stories. Did we mention that there will be wine? Yes, your meal will be perfectly paired with Paracombe Wines, as your minds and tastebuds experience a truly unique experience.

When: Thursday 5 May
Where: Riverside Restaurant
Time: 6pm
Cost: $135 per person

She’ll Be Apples

Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard know a thing or two about serving up amazing food and wine (obviously). So we can only imagine that their Tasting Australia event will be next level. Join them for a very different five course degustation luncheon created by their Head Chef, Matt Fitton.

So how is it different? Well this will be a culinary journey featuring different varieties of Lenswood apples along with fresh and foraged Adelaide Hills produce. While you are eating, you will also be learning! Get some knowledge on one of the best apple and wine producing regions in Australia.

Plus the dishes will be matched with Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard’s single vineyard award winning wines. Yes, please!

When: Saturday 7 May and Sunday 8 May
Where: Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard
Time: From 12pm – 3pm
Cost: $135 per person

Hills to the Valley

When My Kitchen Rules alumni, Bree May is behind the menu, you know the food will be all kinds of awesome. Enjoy a long and lazy lunch (just the way we like it) at the stunning Artwine in the Adelaide Hills. Using the very best that the Adelaide Hills and Clare Valley have to offer, Bree will create a special menu for guests to enjoy. Of course, the meal will be paired with Artwine’s new and traditional wines from Woodside to Clare. Where do we sign up?

When: Saturday 7 May
Where: Artwine
Time: 12.30pm
Cost: $130 per person

Floating Feast

More than a feast, this will be an experience! How can it not be when it involves the iconic and much loved Popeye?! The Floating Feast (named so for obvious reasons) will see guests explore single site wines as well as enjoying a perfectly curated menu of regional (and delicious) fare.

It will be a celebration of all things South Australia, from our wine and food to our history! With food event geniuses from Out in the Paddock, along with food photographer, food event planner and food consultant Dougal Mcfuzzlebutt of Mcfuzzlebutt’s Manchen behind this one, you know it’s going to be a cracker.

Getting amongst this food fiesta will be The Roaming Spit, Chocolat By Daniela, Torbreck Wines, and Vale Brewing, along with some help from Sam Worral-Thompson from Kichen + Catering by Sam.

When: Saturday 7 May
Where: The Popeye, Riverbank Precinct
Time: 5pm
Cost: $200 per person
