Splash Adelaide, Fork On the Road and Roadshow Entertainment have collaborated with Doc Week for an evening of food and film in Whitmore Square this Saturday 8 February.

The entertainment kicks off from 5pm with all the favourite food trucks including Burger Theory, La Cantina, La Chiva and Chimichurri, followed by a free screening of the highly acclaimed documentary Red Obsession at 8.45pm.

Fork On the Road organiser and recipient of the Australia Day Award for Best Community Event Joe Noone, said that combining food and movies was a new move for the food truck fiesta.

“Fork on the Road is always looking for unique partnerships, and the chance to put on a free screening of the award winning documentary Red Obsession as part of DocWeek fits really well with Fork.”

“Whitmore square is a perfect location to get outside, take in the free screening and enjoy as much great food as you can take,” Joe said.

Voted by The Guardian as one of the top ten Australian films of the year and nominated for several awards, Red Obsession is set against the stunning landscapes of Bordeaux and China. It tells the story of two powerful cultures finding common ground over their love of a delicate wine.

Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood said these types of partnerships demonstrated how community events could work together.

“One of the aims of Splash Adelaide is to encourage event organisers to network and partner with each other to create unique experiences that will bring people into our city’s parks and squares.

“This event shows how well this can work so bring your rugs and chairs and enjoy some entertainment under the stars,” Stephen said.

This Fork in the Road includes all your favourite food trucks and mobile food vendors, as well as several new vendors including M&L serving their unique potato offerings.

Swell Brewing, 3 Dark Horse and Hills Cider will provide the drinks and there will be plenty on offer for the sweet tooth, with Four Seeds, Peace of Cake and LocaPops joining the feast.

A face painter and a selection of craft activities will keep the kids entertained. Mist fans and the SA Water Quench Bench will also be onsite to keep you cool.

Entry to Fork on the Road is free.
