Kelly Magor, the founder of Forage & Feast, a locally grown and sourced food manufacturing business, is the winner of the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The awards, which took place tonight at the SAHMRI building, showcased the SAYES Class of 2014 graduates and their achievements.

A graduate of the South Australian Young Entrepreneur (SAYES) program run by Business SA, Ms Magor and Forage and Feast have gone from strength to strength since its 2013 creation.

Ms Magor’s venture started when she purchased Tilleys Hill Farm at Brownhill Creek, and the Forage and Feast label was born. She now produces an extensive range of condiments, and supplies some of Adelaide’s most respected businesses.

Forage & Feast -13Not satisfied with this success, Kelly has some grand plans that are well underway to extend the farm to include the Forage & Feast Kitchen and make it a full cooking and dining experience.

“Being involved in the SAYES program has been an invaluable experience that has helped me transform my business idea into a comprehensive plan, which I can now execute with confidence,” Ms Magor said.

“With ongoing mentoring, the program provided the discipline I needed to have me step out from working ‘in’ the business and work ‘on’ the business,” she said.

The SAYES program, powered by Business SA, provides advice and assistance to young business owners through matching them with successful South Australian business owners as mentors.

The Manager of Business SAYES, Sarah Lindblom, said “over 500 participants have graduated from the SAYES program in the last seventeen years and many of these graduates have gone on to build successful and innovative businesses and create employment opportunities in South Australia.”

Other awards presented to the SAYES Class of 2014 graduates on Wednesday the 5th of August 2015 included the Growth Award, awarded to InProperty Design, and the Business Plan Award, awarded to Social Natives.

David Thompson, of InProperty Design, who has seen his business grow with the help of his mentor said, “I now have much more structured and automated operating systems, which allow for further growth and increased efficiency”.

Louise Kipling, of Social Natives, who has seen substantial growth throughout her involvement in the SAYES said “the most rewarding thing for me was to look back and see how much my business and I have grown.”

“The knowledge and resources shared throughout the SAYES program has been invaluable for my business and personal career development,” Ms Kipling said.
