Food Gem Of Robe That Won’t Stay Hidden

South Australian’s will travel a long way for good food, so it’s fitting that along the picturesque Robe coastline sits a food destination worthy of the journey.

As the name implies, this intimate gourmet restaurant surrounded by Robe’s ornate greenery, is about gathering for food in the metaphorical and literal sense. Staple ingredients used in their dishes are wild and local, literally picked Chef Tom Tilbury. The establishment is proud to be a part of the Robe community, housed in “Omerod’s Woolstore”, a heritage building in the town built out of sandstone and ship timber by George Omerod in 1853.

Another interesting element to the restaurant is their environmentally friendly practices; because a lot of the produce is foraged it cuts down foods miles and increases sustainability. There is a real wholesome spirit to Gather amongst the rustic, yet polished setting of the old woolstore. The overall atmosphere is relaxed, and despite some similarities to old English countryside eateries, this is a perfect Australian summer location. The rugged charm of the building is complimented by the undeniably flavourful food that is filled with interesting, exciting and new flourishes. Chef Tom and his wife Sarah pride themselves on customers walking away feeling like they have tasted something like nothing before.
