More than 35 culinary and travel bloggers with a combined Twitter following of 64,000 people and 90,000 Facebook ‘likes’ will congregate in Adelaide this week to experience SA’s food and wine and learn from leading social media experts.

Words to Go presented by PIRSA kicks off Tasting Australia and will create a buzz on social media as forum delegates from overseas, interstate and SA learn from experts including Lauren Bath who has Australia’s biggest Instagram account and Katie Quinn Davies of well-renowned blog What Katie Ate.

Hitaf Rasheed, General Manager, Events South Australia said Words to Go presented by PIRSA was the first event of its kind for Tasting Australia.

“Tasting Australia is staying ahead of the pack by including a social media forum as part of its program,” Hitaf Rasheed said.

“With international and national delegates who write influential blogs being part of Tasting Australia, our reputation for great food and wine will hopefully be communicated to thousands of people here and abroad.”

Program Director and food blog author of Lambs’ Ears and Honey, Amanda McInerney, said the event had attracted a high calibre of speakers who delegates were prepared to travel for.

“We will have a highly engaged audience learning from some of the best and keen to put into practice what they learn,” Ms McInerney said.

“Culinary and travel bloggers are a growing community and to expose them to Tasting Australia and some of the state’s food experiences will help tell South Australia’s story of premium food and wine.”

Delegates will take part in sessions including ‘Ladies who lunch – the thrills and perils of street food,” “Gaining followers and turning them into raving fans,” and “Capturing images that best illustrate culinary traditions.”

As part of the Words to Go forum, delegates will also participate in trips to the Adelaide Hills for a cheese making class or to Campbelltown to follow the Flavours of Campbelltown Food Trail.

“This element of the forum will give delegates the chance to try some of SA’s sumptuous food and wine as well as practice what they’ve learnt at the forum. These trips will give the delegates content to write about
and post about on social media, all helping to spread the word about South Australia as a culinary destination,” Hitaf Rasheed said.

Words to Go presented by PIRSA runs from Sunday 27 April to Tuesday 29 April. It is part of Tasting Australia which runs from 27 April to 4 May.
