Christopher Wayne and Mike Tyler: The Naked Magicians

If sex sells, then it’s time to rob a bank. Ladies and gentlemen, you’ll wear neither of those honourable titles after you whet your appetite with some of these titillating teases on offer at the 2014 Adelaide Fringe.

For the gals, gays and their hapless handbags, the Aussie Hunks Australia – Fully Monty All Male Review Show promise the “sexiest male strippers and topless waiters”. Their routines are fully choreographed with themed costumes that range from men in (and out) of uniform to cowboys and knights. There’ll be a smooth, toned fantasy for everyone…and lots of screaming.

The most R-Rated magic show this season will undoubtedly be The Naked Magicians, which strips away the top hats and capes, and promises full frontal illusions. Magicians Christopher Wayne and Mike Tyler have performed on television and stages across the globe and now aim to take to the stage for the first time ever with their sleeves up and pants down. Oh my!

Bursting with testosterone, stripped to the waist, sweating, writhing, grunting and dominating each other are the men and women of Megaslam, the annual Fringe entry by Riot City Wrestling. These professional male and female athletes leap, flip, act badly and partake in enough backstabbing melodrama to make a daytime soapie blush. I’ve been several times and it’s a hoot. Best of all, no matter where you sit, you’re no more than a few rows back from the ring. It’s your chance to get up close and personal with more muscles than a seafood platter!

If you’re after something a little less risqué than a strip show but more salacious than wrestling, consider the award-winning EastEnd Cabaret: Dirty Talk. It’s a dirty little cabaret comedy featuring naughty songs, saucy misadventures and a deviant diva amongst other cheeky surprises. They won a Best Cabaret award at a previous Adelaide Fringe, so it’s a good sign you’re onto a winner.

Burlesque is always in vogue and there’s a slew of activities awaiting your attention from a Beginner Burlesque Workshop to some Nerdlesque Nights to satisfy the geek in all of us. There’s the glitz and glamour of a Big Band Burlesque show, the blending of comedians and strippers in the Comic Strip, and the winner of the World Burlesque Games 2013, Scarlett Belle, features in the Australian premiere of the speakeasy Blues and Burlesque, which also happens to feature live and original music written by ex Dexys Midnight Runners man Pete Saunders. Oh la la!

Then, of course, there’s the old stalwart, Puppetry of the Penis, which is bound to make any man break into a sweat.
