Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 4.06.32 pmThis June, as part of the Cabaret Fringe Festival, Floating Melodies is turning one! From humble beginnings in 2013, in the same festival, these concerts have reached sell out status in the Adelaide Fringe, the Adelaide Food and Wine Festival and Tasting Australia. Floating Melodies was created by Emma Knights Productions to provide opportunities for local performers and businesses to show off their talents, celebrate South Australia and to have an experience for everyone to enjoy.

Set on board local icon The Popeye, on the River Torrens, Floating Melodies are a one hour concert cruise down the river. Over the last year, a variety of artists have covered the styles of jazz, musical theatre, pop and opera. Accompanying the artists is a shared platter of local food and a local beverage from businesses such as Tucker’s Natural, Maggie Beer, Spring Gully, Udder Delights, BD Farm Paris Creek, Assaggio, Kytons Bakery, Scarpantoni Wines, Adelaide Hills Cider, Howard Vineyard and Nippys. Each concert has a different produce/beverage package selected to accompany the music.

As Floating Melodies is turning one, there will be a number of firsts in the three upcoming Floating Melodies concerts. The first concert on the 4th of June at 6pm will feature Robyn Brookes entertaining guests with a selection of Carole King’s greatest hits and for the first time we will be running a wine tasting session on board. A sparkling, a Chardonnay, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a port from Howard Vineyard in the Adelaide Hills should leave everyone feeling warm on this wintry night. In addition guests will have a delectable food platter from Udder Delights, Woodside Cheese Co, Maggie Beer, Simpson Rices Creek Farm and Tucker’s Natural. Throughout this concert the engine will be switched off and we will literally float along the River and hear the acoustics under the King William St Bridge.

The second installment is a fundraiser for World Environment Day and is the first breakfast version of Floating Melodies. The concert features songs about the world and the earthy tones of Emma Bargery as well as introducing Low Impact Man, who will be running a special activity providing all guests with a gift to take home. Nippys fruit juices, Moo muesli and yoghurt and some sweet foods from the Honey lady will fill your bellies before heading off to work. Come and watch the sunrise with us and celebrate this wonderful planet we live on, 5th of June at 7am.

The final concert in this series is all about Vixens. Two sultry performers, Fiona DeLaine and Shelley Crooks will provide some sassy singing while you enjoy a glass of Fox Creek’s sparkling red named Vixen. Some cheeses from Bd Farm Paris Creek will add a bit of a kick and warmth to the shared food plates on this Wintry Sunday afternoon, 14th of June at 3pm.

Boarding takes place at the Elder Park dock and tickets start from $30.
