Five South Aussie men dressed as superheroes will be riding postie bikes 4,500km from Perth to Sydney to raise funds for Camp Quality, starting on Monday 4 May and planning to arrive in Sydney Saturday 16 May 2015. They hope to raise $50,000 from the ride – enough to send another 38 kids to one of Camp Quality’s resilience-building camps.
They’ll be passing through Merredin, Kalgoorlie, Balladonia, Mundrbilla then over into SA on 8 May through Nundroo, Wudinna, Melrose (via Pt Ausgusta), Waikerie, crossing to Mildura 12 May then into NSW to Conargo 13 May, through Cowra, Katoomba (via Bathurst) and arriving in Sydney on the evening of 16 May.
Participant Greg Campbell from Henley Beach, SA, is also a Camp Quality volunteer and has named his bike “Lauren Alyce” in honour of a Camp Quality camper who is currently undergoing treatment. Greg said: “I met Lauren for the first time on her first Camp Quality camp when she was just 7. She has endured a lot of treatment but always comes up smiling and never fails to put other people’s needs above her own. Her love of life and her ‘can do’ attitude are the inspiration for doing this ride”.
The other four SA-based participants are Julian Strudwick from Victor Harbour, Simon Robinson from Onkaparinga Hills, Jai Robinson from Onkaparinga Hills and Michael Klose from Vale Park.
