Five Reasons Not To Miss OH YES Festival This Friday

With one of Adelaide’s hottest up-coming music festivals on our doorstep, we thought we’d make the case for punters to make sure they nab the last of the tickets for OH YES.

The first two ticket allocations were picked up, quick smart, so if you want to get involved with one of the biggest parties before the summer festival season, we’d get onto it ASAP.

DUKE DUMONT

Nothing quite captures the positive festival feel good vibes like British DJ Duke Dumont’s “I Got U”, a Grammy nominated track that hit number one in the UK a few years ago with 600,000 sales in that country and well over a million streams in Denmark alone. It’s been a has been a stable in clubs, YouTube soundtracks and various others media since and sure he’s got other certifiable bangers like Ocean Drive, which you know even if you think you don’t. Think of Duke Dumont’s set as the one to herald in the warmer weather.

PNAU

One of the best dance music sets in Adelaide this year, in recent memory, was the closing night of the Royal Croquet Club, with PNAU absolutely killing it on the banks of Pinky Flat. With a career resurgence on the back of the exotic Chameleon, which featured high in the last Triple J Hottest 100, PNAU are back in force and have such a rich history of driven electro jams, like “Embrace” featuring Ladyhawke and “Wild Strawberries” you know it’ll be a set to remember. Make sure you’re front and centre for these guys to soak up Nick Littlemore’s infectious enthusiasm.

SAFIA

Michael Bell has one of the most distinctive voices in Australian music with his uniquely rich and smooth falsetto. On the back of these angelic tones and some pretty sophisticated production SAFIA has emerged over recent years as one of the country’s leading lights in electronic music. With the moody, ambient sounds and Bell’s yearning vocals the act’s songs translate beautifully live, making them one of Australia’s must see acts.

VALLIS ALPS

With gentle clear vocals on a bed of lush, ambient arrangements there are plenty of reasons to love Vallis Alps. Their performance of “Fading” live in the Triple J studios was simply sublime. With an unpretentious and earnest live act and a serene on stage professionalism, these guys make for a really arresting live show.

NORTHEAST PARTY HOUSE

One act that never fails to get the punters moving is North East Party House. Living up to their name, every show they put on has a party vibe, with their pumping last performance at Fat Controller no exception. With great jams this year like the evocative Calypso Beach, the act has stepped up their songwriting, so while the high energy party vibes remain, the hooks are better than ever. Make sure you head forward just before these guys start if you really want to get in amongst it.

To get you in the spirit of things, the crew from OH YES have curated this awesome Spotify Playlist of artists from the lineup, make sure, you put this on loop while you count down the days till Friday.

OH YES Festival is held at Wayville Showgrounds and kicks off at 2pm on Friday September 29. The event is on track to sell out so don’t wait for door spots (or even worse, scalpers) make sure you head to Moshtix and get sorted for one of the parties of the year.
