New Bar And Restaurant Opens Today In Adelaide CBD

The Treasury building is one of Adelaide’s most iconic buildings, and one that’s steeped in a considerable amount of history. Such a beautiful building presents itself as a canvas of tremendous opportunity to deliver something fresh and exciting, whilst still paying homage to a poignant part of South Australian heritage.

After taking over the hospitality offering at the Adina, which included the hotel’s catering, room service, bar and restaurant, NTA Hospitality has been renovating outdated bar and restaurant areas for the most part of this year. The doors are opening today, just in time for summer! In the meantime, their gorgeous courtyard is the place to be, with their pop-up bar and delicious food on offer.

Nathan Wright, Tony Wright and Anna Thomas, along with their team, have worked hard to highlight the beauty of the building across the renovations, while bringing the offering up to date.

This new revamp has brought a sense of warmth and texture into the venue, whilst remaining sympathetic to its history. To assist them to bring their vision into reality they brought on the award winning interior architecture team at Studio-Gram – the genius behind Osteria Oggi (winner of the prestigious World Interiors News Award for Restaurant Interiors, held in London), Africola, Mexicola (most Instagrammed bar in the world), Mr Good Bar etc.

There are three new unique spaces.

The beautifully refurbished bar filled with light, space and an array of textures including wood, brass, marble, mirrors and leathers; the warm and inviting kitchen space, with woven leather seats, wooden tables and ambient lighting; and the courtyard, arguably one of the largest outdoor boutique bars in Adelaide. The courtyard is a serene setting situated peacefully in the heart of the city, oblivious to the daily hustle and bustle of the world outside.

They have an amazing range of local wines and spirits, outstanding South Australian craft beers, fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables and an assortment of local meats and cheese. Each of their wines by the glass are beautiful South Australian wines carefully chosen by Nathan, each with their own story, and all of outstanding quality. Names you will see by the glass include: Alpha box & Dice, Kilikanoon, Coulter wines, The Lane Vineyard, Karrawatta, Geoff Hardy, Lake Breeze, Hentley Farm, Parker Estate, Main & Cheery, Turkey Flat, Cirillo.

As with any good bar, there’s a large number cocktails on offer that cover a huge range of taste preferences – from sour to sweet. Think a Chambord & Lychee Sour (Chambord, Paraiso Lychee Liqueur, Lemon, Orange Bitters and Aquafaba), Maple Bacon Old Fashioned (Bacon-Washed Bulleit Bourbon, Angostura Bitters, Orange Bitters and Maple Syrup), or Twenty-Five Schmeckles (Havana 3yo Rum, Del Maguey Vida Mescal, Falernum, Grapefruit Juice and Passionfruit). None of the cocktails on offer tickle your fancy? No problem, the guys behind the bar will make anything your heart desires.

Situated within the Adina Apartments, the team at Treasury 1860 believe it’s imperative to provide a platform for local producers of fine food and drink to showcase what our state has to offer.

The food vision? “Globally inspired, locally sourced”.

Treasury 1860 has a menu that offers our international, interstate and local guests a taste of South Australia, introducing patrons to all that is available in our own backyard.

Every dish is inspired by the owners’ travels, but created with fresh, seasonal, local produce- finished with a South Australian twist.

A few examples of the new seasonal menu include: small plates such as Beetroot and Vodka cured salmon with horseradish cream, capers and hazelnut crumb, pan fried baby squid, pickled fennel, orange, radicchio and sumac and large plates such as, pan fried barramundi, pea puree, pickled asparagus, potato rosti, peas and bacon crumb; or blackened Kangaroo loin, served with a salad of cauliflower, raw turnip, golden beets, pickled berries and salsa verde.

For travelling business patrons, the Treasury provides a home away from home, with all the conveniences to alleviate the burden of frequent travel. For international guests, Treasury 1860 provides an introduction into all that is on our doorstep, a suggestion of local discoveries, and knowledge of how best to access what South Australia has to offer. Local patrons will once again be enticed by an atmosphere and product that welcomes you with open arms and leaves you longing to return.

Treasury 1860 is also able to host multiple functions given the different spaces, format and flexibility of the venue. This includes weddings, engagements, large parties, formal dinners, cocktail parties, and performances. People can also hire the tunnels from the Adina for private events, which Treasury 1860 will host and provide the food and beverage service.
