Film Review: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part – 2

Movie Review: ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part – 2’ (2012)

115 minutes
Directed By: Bill Condon
Written By: Melissa Rosenberg, Stephanie Meyer
Drama/Fantasy/Romance/Action
3.5/5 Stars

The long anticipated finale to the Twilight series hit screens on the 15th of November and it was epic. Twi-hards across the nation could not wait to see the transformation of Bella into the beautifully formidable vampire she inevitably was to become – and as always Kristen Stewart did not disappoint.

All cast members remained the same throughout the series and portrayed the characters in the books well.

Breaking Dawn Part 2 follows the repercussions of the birth of Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward’s (Robert Pattinson) daughter Renesmee.

Vampire law states that it is forbidden to turn a child into a vampire – and although Renesmee is their biological daughter, the highest vampire order The Voltari, make it their mission to punish the Cullen’s.

This movie is filled with action predominantly in the Voltari/Cullen fight scene and depicts Bella’s transformation into a vampire well. Kristen’s appearance in Breaking Dawn Part 2 is evidently striking as is her strength and ability as a vampire.

The computer generated newborn Renesmee is a distraction – however Mackenzie Foy as the older Renesmee makes up for it.

The cinematography in Breaking Dawn Part 2 is quite outstanding, particularly when Bella is hunting for the first time through the snow covered mountain tops and green pastures.

The soundtrack has haunting yet beautiful melodies such as Christina Perri’s ‘A thousand years’ and James Vincent McMorrow’s – ‘Ghosts.’

The cast is large, and even though some only have small scenes like Dakota Fanning as Jane and Michael Sheen as Aro their screen presence is felt.

For fans of the book series, there will always be comparisons and criticism; however Breaking Dawn Part 2 portrays the end of the saga true to the books with Jacob’s (Taylor Lautner) humor, Bella’s composure and Edwards’s intensity and will be enjoyed by even non Twi-hards.

I give the movie 3.5/5 Stars.
