Festival Fever Returns To Adelaide This Spring

Image via AFF Facebook page South Australia will continue its festival dominance in October 2013, when the Adelaide Film Festival moves to a new month, and the Festival of Ideas returns with an invigorated line-up.

Two programs of the Adelaide Film Festival (AFF) and the Festival of Ideas (FOI) will complement each other, creating a month-long celebration of film, talks, forums and creative ideas across the city.

Adelaide presented the first Festival of Ideas in Australia in 1999, and established a biennial event that generates interest locally, as well as nationally and internationally.

“The Festival of Ideas helps to reinforce South Australia’s reputation as a cultural, creative city,” said Minister Chloë Fox, assisting the Minister for the Arts.

The Adelaide Film Festival, which is moving to October from March, will continue to highlight the best of locally-produced films, with an eclectic mix of cinema, television, art and the moving image. It will run from October 10-20, and the Festival of Ideas will be held from October 17-20. Programs for both festivals will be announced in coming months.

Chair of the AFF and FOI, Sandra Sdraulig said: “We are delighted to be contributing to the growth of events and entertainment in October. Presenting both festivals will allow us to deliver a range of options for audiences throughout South Australia. We look forward to presenting distinctive and compelling programs for both festivals.”
