It’s your last chance to sink your teeth into some fantastic Queer Art and Culture for Feast Festival!

This year’s Feast has focussed strongly on local South Australian LGBTIQ artists, with some exciting and prolific interstate performers making the pilgrimage to Adelaide to celebrate the milestone too.

The 2017 program has delved back to its roots of emerging and thought-provoking art that is sure to capture the interest of many Feast goers.

This week is the final week of Feast and there is plenty for everyone to see and do.

There are film screenings, forums and of course some excellent cabaret and theatre shows.

Here’s a highlights list for you to make sure that everyone gets the chance to be out and about for Feast 2017.

FEAST FESTIVAL FINAL WEEK HIGHLIGHTS:

FEST 21 TO NOW VISUAL ART EXHIBITION – Until Sunday 26 Nov

Take a trip down memory lane as you experience 21 years of Feast Festival. As a new millennium was on the horizon, Feast was created from the ideas and energy of four professional arts and community workers in Adelaide. Helen Bock, Damien Carey, Luke Cutler and Margie Fischer. Former Premier and community icon Don Dunstan launched the Festival guide and poster to a delighted crowd on 5 September 1997 at the Lion Arts Centre.

Among the exhibition of outfits, posters and brochures is an exquisite piece; Adelaide drag icon Rouge’s red sequin dress, bustier and collared jacket which she made on her Bernina sewing machine. It is complemented by her wig and matching jewellery. Roger Shepard has been performing as Rouge in drag since 1959 – and still performs whenever asked at 86!

THE DUETAHOLICS Thurs 23rd Nov – Sat 25th Nov | 10pm

Looking to re-ignite your relationship? You need a one-on-one with entertainment’s least-likely newlyweds Dean Arcuri and Miz Ima Starr! Trapped in a sexless marriage and loving every minute of it, these improbable belters reinvent the wedding reception as the ultimate gay celebration of song. Fresh from their all-singing all-dancing honeymoon in Vegas, The Duetaholics unveil their entirely unpatented recipe for everlasting marital bliss. From ‘We Got Tonight’ in a go-go bar… to ‘Adele’s Guide to Stalking’… Dean and Ima are ready to give love an almighty chance.

LABELS – Thurs 23rd November – 7:30pm

Based on the journey of a caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly and life in between, the show explores the intricate evolution of belief in the afterlife shared by Aboriginal Australians and different cultures from all over the world.

COMEDY GAYLA – Thurs 23rd Nov – 8pm

Hosted by local legend Lori Bell, the Feast Comedy Gayla showcases some of the freshest, fiercest and most fabulous stand ups for one show only. Your prefect taste test to all things funny at Feast. Get your tickets quickly as this will surely be a sell-out.

MY FAIRY GODMOTHER SUCKS – Fri 24 & Sat 25 | 9pm

Georgia wishes for a Fairy Godmother ‘cos she thinks they are kind and offer clarity. POOF – her Fairy Godmother turns out to be a tongue-twisting tart who enjoys screwing with Georgia’s brain….and other bits. Georgia sings up a storm of steampunk and some fancy French tango, trying not to inherit the screwy speech she hears in her head from this supernatural psycho…after all, it’s already hard enough to pronounce “Cunnilingus”!

PICNIC IN THE PARK – Sunday 26th November 11am – 7pm

The sun beaming down, the birds chirping – that means one thing, grab your picnic blankets and baskets and get down to the close of Feast Festival with our delightful Picnic in the Park. Pinky Flat/ Pingku will be bustling with market stalls, food vendors and community information stands. The day is fun for the whole family – with the annual dog show taking place, as well as the SA firefighters tug-of-war. The air will be filled with beats from radio station Hit 107 as party goers celebrate the final of Feast Festival 2017.
