Fancy A Rave at 6am? Grab A Coffee And Get Down At First Light!

Get ready to drop it like its hot as the sun rises across Adelaide with the second ever At First Light morning dance party this Friday.

What kind of person thinks that it’s a good to wake up at 6am for a rave party? There’s no booze, there’s no drugs, this is purely about being high on life, which is not the feeling shared by parents when their toddlers are waking them up at all hours of the morning because “the wind outside is scary.”

Well, believe it or not this sort of thing is growing rapidly in popularity around the world, with the inspiration behind Adelaide’s new morning rave event At First Light, drawn from invigorating mornings spent in New York City by founder Leah Kertesz. Instead of a bar stocked with alcohol to enjoy a good dance with, she gets her kicks from coffee, iced tea, coconut water & juices. And she reckons that Adelaide is getting ready to try the same.

Described as ‘a morning movement’, At First Light’s activities aim to motivate people to make small changes and promote health, vitality, positivity for the body, mind and soul. Of course, being Winter it’s not quite so easy to greet the first breath of morning air without some serious cold chills, which is why the second ever Adelaide At First Light event will take place in much warmer surrounds at the Uni SA East Campus. From 6.30am you’ll be getting into downward dog with some basic yoga to warm up with before you get dowwwwwwwwwwwn to some old school RnB and Hip Hop bangers courtesy of Fresh FMs DJ Logic. There may, or may not be a breakdance battle included, but one thing is for sure, you’ll head off to work absolutely buzzing.

If you’re worried about breakfast, don’t be. Your ticket will also sort you with a RIO Coffee, Breakfast Bar by Nutrition Republic and treats from Pure Press Organic Juice, Mojo Kombucha and Isowhey. All you need to bring is good vibes, and as the community builds no doubt you’ll be seeing more of these events cropping up.

For the mean time, get down to Uni SA City East Campus, Brookman Hall, 108 North Terrace from 6.30am on Friday 10th June. Quite literally, welcome the first light! For more information visit At First Light Facebook and if you’re keen as a bean book your tickets here.
