The Botanic Gardens Restaurant is known for its enchanted atmosphere, sensational food, and amazing service. After recently taking home Restaurant of the Year AND Chef of the Year at the Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards 2017, there is no doubt that this venue is one of Adelaide’s finest.
The award-winning restaurant follows a “garden to plate” philosophy, the menu features only sustainable South Australian Produce, fresh vegetables and herbs harvested daily from the Botanic Gardens kitchen garden. This philosophy means the menu is subject to changes depending on the gardens produce.
If there is ever a surplus of produce throughout the year The Botanic Gardens Restaurant ensures there is no wastage, the produce is preserved by fermenting, salting or pickling which then finds its way into the menu for the following weeks, months and even years.
The menu structures are designed to ensure you get a taste for the garden’s magnificent produce in either a 4-course offering or a tasting menu which can include up to 7 courses. The restaurant’s wine list is selected based on the wines ability to work with the food and compliment all the courses on their ever-changing menu.
We have been told that at the moment horseradish, Centella leaves, lemon myrtle, strawberries, dwarf mulberries and green tomatoes are some of the produce that is thriving in the Botanic Gardens Kitchen Garden, so you can expect to see these featured on the menu alongside their local producers such as Gazander Oysters, Kinkawooka Mussels, Hiramasa kingfish, Schaum Pork, Boston Bay Smallgoods, Spencer Gulf Prawns, Ngeringa Biodynamic Produce and Fleurie Milk – just to name a few!
Their New Year’s Eve event is happening again and we hear the menu will be nothing short of amazing. Tickets are selling fast, so book now! Details in our New Years Eve Guide here.
