Jo SchneiderJo Schneider, entrepreneur and former Senior Manufacturing Engineer at GM Holden, today makes her debut as part of the new University of South Australia mid-year intake advertising campaign.

Schneider, who is the current holder of Telstra’s Young Business Woman of the Year Award (SA), will feature across cinema, digital, social media and radio advertising between 4 May and 31 July as the ‘hero’ of the Engineering School as part of UniSA’s student recruitment campaign.

UniSA’s engineering programs are now ranked by Times Higher Education as in the top six in Australia and top 100 in the world and the organisation is keen to leverage their global standing to attract the best of Australia’s young talent pool.

Victoria Fielding, Marketing Manager at UniSA is thrilled to have serial entrepreneur Schneider on board and says her involvement reflects the university’s positioning as a University of Enterprise.

“Our engineering degrees, in particular, teach students rigorous problem solving skills which can set you up for a range of careers,” Fielding states, “Jo was a perfect fit for us in showing that our alumni are equipped to live a life of enterprise, either working for someone, or as Jo has done, setting up her own companies.”

Jo, 31, is delighted to be the new face of the engineering program for UniSA, especially as in Australia, only 9.6% of engineers are women.*

“Although I’m no longer engaged in technical engineering, in my consultancy company, DVE Business Solutions, I have taken the principles I learnt in my mechanical engineering degree and have applied them in non-engineering sectors,” Jo says and she continues, “choosing engineering has given me the tools and processes which can add substantial economical and service delivery improvements to the organisations DVE works with.”
