Error’s Escape, a short animation created by a team of Adelaide students and emerging filmmakers has received accolades at the South Australian Screen Awards.
The surprise win in the Best Animation category saw the film up against the likes of Tropfest runners up ‘My neighborhood has been overrun by baboons’, and sees a growing trend of animation success in Adelaide following on from the PRA’s Cat Piano.
The film has proved popular with audience due to its quirky yet heartwarming tale, and its undeniably adorable protagonist ‘Error’.
In fact, Error has just been selected as the new ‘poster boy’ for the Media Resource Centre’s Digitopia Initiative.
This will see Error become the new icon for this funding and development program for up and coming animators.
The director, Andrew J Clark, attributes Tim Burton and Pixar as being the main influences of the film; the strange and dark aesthetic comes from this fascination.
Error will now continue his journey of distribution, with his creators entering the film into international festivals in the hope Error will get to see the world.
A successful fundraiser last month which screened Alice in Wonderland in 3D at Wallis Mitcham gave an additional $600 towards this dream.
Producer Alexandra Blue believes the film will be favoured overseas due to its international appeal with limited use of the english language, the story almost solely conveyed through visuals, sound and music.

Andrew Clark was also nominated for Best Editing for Monkey Bar Mafia in SASA 2010, and Producer Alexandra Blue featured in ‘Red’ (starring Jodi Dry) which was nominated for Best Cinematography and Production Design.
