Entropy, Still Rocking The Brunch Scene With Their Delicious Menu

Having heard a lot about Entropy but having never been, I thought it was about time I paid them a visit! And boy, am I glad that I did…

At first, I had to wonder where the heck I was… But as I walked from Queen Street in Thebarton through the buildings, just following the signs, like I was told, and entered into Entropy, I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be.

The relocated old railway shed is the perfect setting for a Sunday brunch. The space is light and airy, and although it was absolutely full of people, it didn’t feel crammed or uncomfortable. Although we hadn’t made a booking (how silly of us) we were looked after by a very friendly staff member who managed to find us a seat inside.

Tables scatter the open space and some are large enough to fit a few groups of people on, so that is what we did. There is a lovely balcony running along the outside of the cafe and also an outdoors patio section, both of which would be amazing during the warmer months. However, with a chill in the air, we opted for an inside spot!

With the menu brought over to us and a run down of the specials for the day, we couldn’t wait to have a look and decide what we would eat. Entropy should be on everyone’s radar because they are all about ‘local thinking’. The menu is full of produce and products from South Australian farmers and producers. The menu also changes weekly to reflect the seasonal produce and what is available. Can we get an Amen!

Their menu actually made the decision about what to eat really hard – but only because everything sounded so good! I kept it simple and opted for rye with a poached egg, sautéed rainbow chard and mushrooms. Of course a hot chocolate was required to wash everything down.

Simple and delicious.

My friend went for something a little bit different in the Veduras Del Dia which is grilled zucchini, slow roasted tomatoes, smoked pyramid salted spinach, two free range poached eggs with Kangaroo Island du Coudic cheese and Hughsli Egyptian dukkah on sourdough rye. Epic.

I actually couldn’t find a fault with my meal, drink included. The rye was sour and dark (just how I like it), my egg was perfectly runny when I cut it open, the rainbow chard was so tasty and the mushrooms were divine. My hot chocolate was just as I had ordered it. Extra frothy and the perfect amount of chocolate. Plus there was the added little bonus of the cutest homemade marshmallow squares.

On the ‘ok’ from my friend, I tried a little bit of her meal, and oh my gosh!!! Zucchini lovers this one is for you. Seriously the charred taste offers something new and different for a breakfast type meal.

Coffee, coffee, coffee...

Coffee, coffee, coffee…

So did we love our meals? Well let’s just say that the plates were empty when the waiter came to collect them.

From the friendly welcome, to the fabulous meals and everything in between, Entropy certainly wasn’t packed full for no reason. This place knows how to put up a great meal and I would definitely visit again. In fact I can’t wait to get there as soon as I can, is this weekend too soon…? I don’t think so!
