To celebrate the launch of Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards first sparkling wine, The hunt for Mrs. Oliver, join them for an afternoon of tapas and bubbles! Enjoy a delicious choice of two tapas dishes out of a choice of five specially created by Chef Todd Steele. Oh, and did we mention? A glass of the brand new sparkling wine on arrival!

Corrina, wine maker at Oliver’s Taranga, has long been fascinated with Champagne (her favourite wine variety), so she decided to try her hand at creating a traditional method sparkling from Fiano grown on the Taranga vineyard.  Fiano is not a traditional sparkling variety, but it has a very high natural acidity which is key for sparkling winemaking.

Now, you might be asking, what is a traditional method sparkling? Also known as Methode Traditionelle, the base wine is made then mixed with a little bit of yeast and grape juice and put into bottle. Making it the same bottle that you will ultimately drink the finished wine from.

Once the contents inside the bottle was perfected, it was time to think about the outside of the bottle. Corina, knew she wanted to honour her Gran, Marjorie Lois Oliver, the only remaining member of the fourth generation of the Oliver family. Corina describes her as the matriarch of the family, yet would be too humble to wear an actual crown, therefore a flower crown would be more suitable for her beloved Gran. Then came the collaboration with renowned SA artist, Emma Hack to create the divine floral crown that adorns the label. Painted in water colour, the beautiful design includes many hidden non-floral items amongst the flowers.

Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards have decided to sell The hunt for Mrs.Oliver ‘en primeur’. This is used a lot in France, when there is a limited supply of a wine, and ensures that customers are able to pre-order and cement their stocks early. In other words, get in quick, this wine is not going to stick around for long!
