Easter Long Weekend Guide 2012

Easter is almost upon us and there's so much on in Adelaide, we've put together a guide with what's on over the long weekend!

Easter at the InterContinental Adelaide’s Riverside Restaurant

Where: InterContinental Adelaide

When: Sunday 8 April

Breakfast: From 6.30am till 11.00am, $34 per person

Head to the InterContinental Adelaide for a full buffet breakfast, live cooking station of pancakes and glass of Seppelt Fleur de Lys Pinot Noir Chardonnay.

Lunch: from 12.30pm till 3.30pm, $95 per person

Lunch at the InterContinental includes a buffet style lunch with a 3 hour beverage package. Oakbank Easter Carnival

Where: Oakbank Racecourse, Adelaide Hills

When: Saturday 7 & Monday 9 April from 7.00am till 8.00pm

Cost: $30 per adult and $10 per child

Situated in the Adelaide Hills, Oakbank Racecourse hosts their annual Easter Carnival over 2 days. The Easter Carnival will feature both jumps and flat racing as Oakbank is the home of jumps racing in South Australia. This event attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year as it is family friendly with packages ranging from $130 to $200.

Easter Chocolate High Tea

Where: The Promenade Restaurant

When: Saturday 31 March to Sunday 15 April from 12.30pm til 5.00pm

Cost: $28 per person (minimum 2 people)

Holdfast Bay- Dawn Princess Cruise Ship

Where: Jetty Road Precinct

When: Friday 6 April

April kicks off with an activity packed Easter. Good Friday, 6 April will see the arrival of the Dawn Princess cruise ship. With up to 1,000 passengers descending on Glenelg, most shops and restaurants will be open to welcome them with Retail trading continuing right through the weekend.

Good Friday at Jetty Road, Glenelg

Where: Jetty Road Precinct

When: Friday 6 April

Jetty road will offer a day of entertainment, vibrant shopping and dining experiences for visitors. Live bands will be provided in Moseley Square from 11.00am till 3.00pm. The Bay Discovery Centre, providing insight into the history of the area, renown local artist Robert Hannaford’s Open Studio art exhibition, visitor information services and more, will be open from 9.30am till 2.00pm. A wide range of Jetty Road shops and restaurants will be open throughout the day to tempt visitors to snap up some souvenirs, local products and wine and dine on some stunning South Australian food and wine. Talented local buskers will be around Glenelg throughout the day.

Easter Funday at the Bay!

Where: Glenelg foreshore, Moseley Square and Jetty Road Precinct

When: Sunday 8 April from 11.00am till 4.00pm

Cost: A range of FREE activities to enjoy

On the day children and families can enjoy activities such as crafts, decorating eggs, Easter bird puppets, bungee tramp, bouncy castle, face painting, native animals, giant games and field games that will start every 15 minutes such as egg and spoon race. In addition to the all day activities, there will be a variety of scheduled activities for parts of the day. These include:  book reading for children & drumming workshops for children The Easter bunny will be in attendance and handing out chocolate eggs to the children from 11am-4pm.

Easter Diva at Dusk @ Sinclair’s Gully

This is an outdoor event with coloratura soprano Kathryn Snape performing songs from some favourite movies such as ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. Wine available from AUD5.00 glass/AUD20.00 bottle.

Easter Wine Woman & Song

Sinclair's Gully, welcomes the return of the very talented and popular Kelly Pigot after sell out performances during this years Fringe.  Kelly will be setting the mood, as we crack open our award winning wine while enjoying her renditions of ‘Fields of Gold’, ‘Nothing Compares to You’ and ‘Halleluiah’. Easter Sunday and Camp Quality Fundraiser

Where: Whistler Wines

When: Sunday 8 April from 11.00am till 5.00pm

Cost: free Entry (gold coin donation)

This Easter help raise money for a good cause with Whistler Wines opening their doors for a camp quality event. For adults there will be markets and live music and for the kids there will be a Cadbury Easter egg hunt, games, crafts, a bouncy castle and the Easter bunny arriving by horse and cart.

Yorke Peninsula Easter Art Exhibition

Where: Ardrossan Town Hall, Ardrossan, South Australia

Celebrate Easter by viewing beautiful works of local art. All the art works will be available for sale and have been extremely popular with art collectors and those that appreciate the Yorke Peninsula scenery.

Easter in Rundle Mall

Where: Rundle Mall, Adelaide

When: Everyday except Good Friday, from 11am – 5pm

This Easter will make history in the City of Adelaide. For the first time, Rundle Mall will remain open on the Sunday and Monday of the long weekend with specials to be announced by car park facilities. The Mall will offer a variety of shops, live music, street theatre performances and buskers.

BBQ Maestro's

Extra Long Sunday Session

Where: The Lion Hotel, 161 Melbourne Street  North Adelaide SA 5006

When: Sunday 8 April, from 2.30pm till 2am

On Easter Sunday the Lion Hotel will make the most of the long weekend with entertainment to begin at 2.30pm with Andrew Hayes and Josh Moore. Continuing the entertainment at 5.30pm with DJ Steve Reece then Happy Leonards at 7.30pm and a DJ until close.
