Gaining a reputation for being one of South Australia’s most exciting new wine labels to emerge, the popular brand is already stocked in over 180 venues. And with the second varietal, the 2013 Tempranillo, recently released, Down The Rabbit Hole continues to conquer.

Creative Director, Domenic Palumbo, and his wife Elise, wanted to create a wine label that would inspire imagination with an attitude of adventure; enticing drinkers to join in on something special.

Describing the process of creating Down the Rabbit Hole’s 2013 Shiraz, Palumbo says, “We wanted to focus all of our attention on one wine to begin with in the hope of creating something incredible… And I am proud to say that we have achieved this with our 2013 Shiraz. It is everything a Shiraz should be – full, with rich red berry flavours, peppery undertones, and a long smooth finish.”

Palumbo assures that the Tempranillo is an equally incredible drop with big flavour. “A great bottle of wine can transform a seemingly ordinary afternoon or evening into something far more exciting; creating memories that are full of laughter, adventure and mystery,” says Palumbo.

Possessing a dark, cherry red colour with plum hues, dark cherries and licorice follow through onto the palate, while smooth cocoa tannins provide a lengthy finish.

Palumbo joined forces with Walter Clappis, one of Australia’s most outstanding wine makers, and the two began working at Walter’s winery in McLaren Vale in January 2014, creating the perfect Shiraz and now to follow, Tempranillo.

“On the back of every bottle is a poem that tells our story,” says Palumbo. “Each wine we release will feature an artwork that represents a different line from the poem, and I can’t wait for everyone to see, try and experience the next one. All I can say is, come join us down the rabbit hole!”
