“I spent the first twenty years of my life in Britain so I’ve always been especially fond of British movies. That’s why I’m so excited about the films in this retrospective festival many of which have not been seen on a cinema screen in decades” says Australian TV personality and film critic David Stratton.
Sixteen British classics, many rarely seen on the big screen and looking better than ever in HD Digital, including retrospectives of Carol Reed, David Lean and Ealing Studios, will feature in this festival at Palace Nova Eastend Cinemas from 19 May – 1 June 2016.
“It’s particularly pleasing to include films in which Australian talent made major contributions – ace Perth born cinematographer Robert Krasker provided the unforgettable images for The Third Man and Odd Man Out and the luminous Judy Davis is magnificent in A Passage to India. In all, a feast of British cinema”.
A diverse collection of Great Britain’s finest offerings from six decades, the Festival includes the classic Lawrence of Arabia starring Peter O’Toole in his first major role, acclaimed British film noir Odd Man Out starring James Mason and for a dose of that Ealing Feeling – The Ladykillers, The Man in the White Suit, The Lavender Hill Mob and Whisky Galore.
