How do you sum up last night’s Adelaide show? Absolutely magnificent!
Boy George, ever the entertainer, took time to engage with the crowd in between sets. You could tell George was having a great time and still loves what he does, he really kept the energy going from start to finish.
The crowd ate this up and everyone was either dancing, singing along, tapping something, or a mix of all of that during the songs -certainly a sign of the punters having a good time!
The crowd was a mix of all ages and sorts, and everyone left with a smile. What more could you really ask? Support acts Hoseah Partsch, The Eurogliders, and the Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey were equally divine in a celebration of all things 80’s.
All the classic hits were performed. Including Church of the Poison Mind, It’s a Miracle, I’ll Tumble 4 Ya, and of course, Karma Chameleon (encore). Some new material from the new album ‘Tribes’ was also performed, which was magnificent. Apparently it’s coming out real soon…watch this space.
They then covered Prince’s Purple Rain, The Rolling Stones’ You Can’t Always Get What You Want, and also T-Rex’s Get It On. They absolutely owned the covers, and a special mention must go to to the back-up singers, especially Mary Pearce. Wow, what a voice!
Overall a great performance, one could not fault any part of the show at all. Not every band could pull this caper off but Culture Club and Boy George certainly did! Loved it!
Make sure you see them if you get the chance.
